The US EPA has partnered with AirNow in developing an app for Americans to participate in crowdsourcing #citizenscience research focused on “increasing public awareness and engagement related to wildfire smoke health risks.” The app, called SmokeSense, works to collect data on the health effects of wildfire smoke exposure, understand what measures people will take to avoid smoke exposure, and develop a public health strategy to communicate with local populations when they are at risk of wildfire smoke.
